April 04, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - NAGERCOIL:

Sixty per cent of voters, including youthS, wanted a change of guard in the State, said Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Pon. Radhakrishnan here on Sunday.

Addressing reporters here, he alleged that the outcome of opinion polls was planted by both the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.“The Bharatiya Janata Party will capture a majority of seats, as its is the only party capable of preventing the Dravidian parties from capturing power in the State,” he said, adding the BJP alliance would be finalised in two days, after which the second list of candidates would be announced.

The People’s Welfare Front was dreaming of capturing power, and it had even decided on portfolio, including the posts of Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. Difference of opinion cropped up among the PWF leaders and there were doubts over its continuance till the elections, Mr. Radhakrishnan said.

Speaking after introducing Nagercoil BJP candidate M.R. Gandhi, he said that the party would capture all the six seats in Kanyakumari district.

The Minister said that Colachel port project was changed to Inayam area based on the feasibility report prepared by a Spain-based consultancy firm. He said that he would implement Inayam port project at any cost, as it would help create employment opportunities to local youths. District party president Kumaradoss was present.
