A family, which lost three of its members in a murder, submitted a petition to the Collector on Monday seeking employment to one of its members as it had already lost its breadwinners in the gruesome murder.

After N. Muthuraj (32) of Nettoor under Alangulam police station limits, allegedly misbehaved with M. Mariammal (20) of the same area, her ailing father Murugan filed a complaint with the police. Though the police picked him up for interrogation, the suspect was released within the next couple of hours.

Agitated over this, Muthuraj allegedly hacked to death Mariammal, her mother M. Petchithaai (45) and grandfather M. Govindasamy (80) with an ‘aruval.’

Since the family lost its breadwinners Mariammal and Petchithaai, Murugan submitted a petition to Collector M. Karunakaran on Monday seeking assistance and employment in a government department to his 16-year-old daughter, who had completed Plus Two.

“If the Collector is kind enough to give an employment to my daughter, we’ll not starve,” Mr. Murugan said.

Accepting the petition, Dr. Karunakaran assured Mr. Murugan that he had recommended to the police to give compensation to him and his family.

The Collector also asked his subordinates to explore the possibilities of giving employment in any of the department to Murugan’s daughter.
