Organised over two days with the motto ‘one goal one path’, the 31st biennial battalion commanders conference of the Madras Regiment concluded at the Madras Regimental Centre (MRC) in Wellington on Tuesday.
With the Colonel of the Regiment Lt. General S.L. Narasimhan in the chair, participants include commanding officers of various battalions’ ex-colonels and former commandants of the centre fine tuned policies pertaining to various matters concerning the regiment. Focus was on strengthening cooperation and coordination among different units and introducing new training methods.
Trophies were presented to the 20 Madras and 21 Madras battalions of the regiment in recognition of the recent presentation of the President’s colours to them by the Chief of Army Staff General Dalbir Singh.
The participants exchanged mementoes and a collage depicting the joint exercise by the armies of India and Maldives which earned goodwill for the country was presented by Col.Mayan K.Jamwal of the 9 Madras battalion.
Cultural programmes including a display of kalaripayattu and a community lunch marked the occasion.
