Is it finally over?

This question relating to the long standing struggle between two groups of Badagas over control of the Young Badagas Association (YBA) an organisation of the community started doing the rounds here following its premises which had remained sealed for the last several months being thrown open on Thursday.

With groups led by T. Gundan (DMK) and M. Buddhichandran (AIADMK), MLA, being on either side of the divide the struggle for supremacy had taken many forms over the last about two years before both the groups sought judicial intervention.

Enquiries made by The Hindu revealed that the decision of the Madras High Court had gone in favour of the group led by Mr. Gundan.

Keys

Consequently the keys of the YBA premises on the Lord Wenlock road which were with the revenue authorities were handed over to representatives of the group.

Since the premises presented a desolate look it is now in the process of being cleaned.

Meanwhile observers hoped that the unsavoury developments of the past two years would be put behind by the two groups and the premises would resume serving its purpose as a multipurpose hall for the people in general and as a cultural hub of the Badaga community.

Stating that for long the YBA had been a source of concern on the law and order front, police sources hoped that it will no longer be necessary to post police personnel outside its premises to keep warring groups apart.
