Attack on journalists condemned

March 10, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - SALEM:

Condemning the continuous attack on mediapersons and demanding protection for them, members of Tamil Nadu People Rights Movement covered their eyes and mouth with black clothes and staged a demonstration in front of Periyar Statue near Collectorate here on Monday.

Led by its state president Poomozhi, members said that writers, journalists and other mediapersons were subject to attacks by persons and protesters in the recent years. “There has been rise in the attack on press freedom and their right to express. We strongly condemn it”, they added. Members said that the constitution paves way for freedom of expression and rights to media and journalists. But attacking them and their property is unfair.

Members of Salem District Press Club staged a demonstration condemning the attack on cameraperson of a private news channel.
