Students of the backward Ariyalur district came out with an impressive performance in the SSLC examination with six of them bagging State-level ranks. One of the toppers was a government school student.
S.Bharathiraja of Government High School at Paranam in Ariyalur district and V.Jayasri of Fatima Matriculation School, Jayankondam, emerged on top scoring 499 marks each.
The second rank was bagged by E.Kaviya of Fatima Girls HSS, Jayankondam, who secured 498 marks, while the third rank with a score of 497 marks was shared by three students: V.Nivedha and R.Santhoshini of Vidya Mandir Matric HSS, Alathiyur, and G.Vinodhadevi of Fatima Girls HSS, Jayankondam. Of the 11,759 students, including 6,103 girls, who wrote the examination, 10,665 candidates have cleared it. The district’s pass percentage was 90.70.
At 93.15 per cent, the girls outshined the boys’ pass percentage of 88.50 . In all, 14 government schools in Ariyalur district secured 100 per cent pass. The toppers met the Collector, A.Saravanavelraj, who congratulated the students on their feat.
