Ariyalur district has registered a pass percentage of 84.18 in the SSLC examinations, the results of which were published on Friday. This was one per cent more than the last year’s performance.
Of the 11,237 students from 149 schools – boys 5,454 and girls 5,783 – who appeared for the examinations in the district, 9,459 candidates – boys 4,403 and girls 5,056 – came out successful. Boys registered 80.73 pass percentage, while girls 87.43.
R. Vibooshani (Vidya Mandir Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Alathiyur) tallied 498 marks to get the coveted State second rank and the Ariyalur district top rank. Her schoolmate Monisha (497 marks) and C. Naveenraj (Periyar Matriculation HSS, Jayamkondam (497) also achieved the twin distinction of State third and district second. L. Deivanai and Ranjani (both Vidya Mandir Matriculation HSS, Alathiyur), were joint district third with 495 marks.
A total of 39 schools – government schools 12, aided schools 5 and self financing and matriculation schools 22 – have registered full pass per cent.
The Government high schools at Kattupirangiyam; Ayan Athur; Kandirathittam; Kovil Esanai; Thamaraikulam; Varanavasi; Vellur, Sozhankudikadu, Sirukadampur; Silal; Unjini; Manakkudi are the government schools which achieved cent per cent results.
The Helen Keller School for Deaf at Jayamkondam achieved 88.89 per cent results.
