Up in arms: Political parties take part in a protest against the anti-farmer policies of the governments in Vellore on Wednesday.

Workers belonging to several parties on Wednesday staged a demonstration condemning the anti-farmer policies of the Central and the State governments.

Members of the DMK, Congress, Thamizhaga Vaazhvurimai Katchi, Left parties, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and farmers association took part in the protest.

Dues for cane-farmers

They condemned the anti-farmer policies of the Central and the State governments.

The protesters pointed out to the delay in settling the dues of sugar cane farmers.

Modi criticised

They also criticised the Prime Minister for not meeting the farmers who had been protesting.

DMK MLAs R. Gandhi (Ranipet), A.P.Nandhakumar (Anaicut), P. Karthikeyan (Vellore) and A. Nallathambi (Tirupattur) and Basith, former MLA (Muslim League) participated. .
