Ancient copper plaques with images of Sri Amman and some copper jewellery were unearthed at the backyard of a house at Agalankannu near Tirunallar on Tuesday.

They were unearthed while digging the earth for construction of a septic tank at the residence of Pannnerselvam.

Tirunallar Tahsildar Muthu rushed to the spot and took possession of the same in the presence of Sub-Collector R. Kesavan.

He advised the local residents to immediately inform the availability of any other ancient valuables in the area to officials.
