Airport-Chengalpattu elevated corridor likely

The State government will study the feasibility of an elevated corridor between the Aringar Anna International Airport in Tirusulam and Chengalpattu.

Wrapping up the discussion on the demand for grants to the Housing and Urban Development department, Minister R. Vaithilingam announced that the possibility of an elevated corridor on the stretch would reduce the traffic on the National Highways 45.

Further, the Minister announced that in order to encourage green houses, a study would be commissioned at a cost of Rs 5 crore on the incentives provided for such houses and their functioning.

Also, during the discussion on the demand, the Minister said the all issues pertaining to the satellite township in Thirumazhisai near Chennai, including land acquisition issues, had been resolved and works on the project was expected to begin in three months.

Meanwhile, in his reply to the demands for grants to the Information and Publicity Department, Minister K.T. Rajenthrabhalaji said that the memorial of poet Subramania Bharati in Chennai and the memorial of former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai in Kancheepuram would be renovated at a cost of Rs 25 lakh and Rs 10 lakh respectively.

Also, an amount of Rs 5 lakh had been allotted to play the folk songs penned by lyricist ‘Pattukottai’ Kalyanasundaram at his memorial in Pattukottai.
