AIADMK to hold demonstration at Sattur

August 02, 2010 12:17 am | Updated 12:17 am IST - CHENNAI:

The AIADMK's Virudhunagar district unit will organise a demonstration on August 3 at Sattur to highlight the DMK government's “failure” to fulfil the basic needs of the people in the district.

In a statement here, party's general secretary Jayalalithaa said the National Highway-7 in Sattur town had witnessed many accidents because the DMK government had failed to construct either a flyover or a subway at Padanthal.

“The government ignored the demand of 18 villages for construction of a flyover and in one year nine people had died in accidents and 70 persons injured,” she said.

Ms .Jayalalithaa said the road between Sattur and Irukkankudi was in bad shape and devotees visiting Irukkankudi Mariamman temple were facing hardship. The government hospital at Sattur also lacked basic amenities.
