Reacting to the issue of NEET, he said the government had passed a resolution seeking 85% reservation for students from Tamil Nadu as they faced difficulty in taking competitive exams. It was up to the Centre to decide on this matter, he added.

Later, kick-starting distribution of alluvial soil removed from Athoor Kamarajar dam to farmers, Mr. Srinivasan said 2.88 lakh cubic metres of soil had been given to 3,201 farmers in the district. Farmers were allowed to lift soil from seven dams and 615 tanks coming under the control of Public Works Department, and 1,071 tanks falling under the control of village panchayats.
