A group of AIADMK men went on the rampage in Pudukottai town shortly after hearing the verdict against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in the disproportionate wealth case.

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) office on North Main Street bore the brunt, with the AIADMK workers pelting stones at a number of glass panels at the entrance.

Another batch of volunteers barged into the office of Desiya Murpokku Dravidar Munnetra Kazhagam at Lakshmipuram, near the bus stand in the town, and ransacked it, damaging whatever came in handy.

On the West Fourth Street, violence broke out when a group of AIADMK supporters damaged the houses of late K. Veeraiah, former Pudukottai Member of Parliament. The volunteers also caused damage to a modern rice mill belonging to the family of the former MP located in the commercial complex beside the residence.

Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation withdrew its services and the bus stands at Pudukottai and Aranthangi wore a deserted look.
