Launching a scathing attack on the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, People’s Welfare Front coordinator Vaiko has warned that Tamil Nadu will be pushed deep into hell if either of the party comes back to power.
Addressing an election rally here on Wednesday night, he said that the two parties which had been ruling the State alternatively, especially after 1987, ruined the State in all spheres.
Mr. Vaiko alleged that corruption was rampant in the AIADMK regime. “The Desiya Mupokku Dravida Kazhagam–PWF combine would confiscate the ill-gotten wealth of the AIADMK Ministers if voted to power,” he said.
Lauding DMDK leader Vijayakant for agreeing to form a coalition government in the event of winning the elections, Mr. Vaiko said that the coalition government would provide checks and balances and they would ensure clean, honest and transparent governance.
Referring to the Front leaders projecting him as Arjuna, the protagonist of Mahabharata, he said that the people should turn to be Lord Krishna and help him win the war to liberate the State from the menace of liquor and corruption. The Front would protect the rights of the people, promote communal harmony and preserve social justice, he assured.
He cautioned the voters not to fall prey to the money power of the DMK and the AIADMK. They should maintain tight vigil and alert the election officials if any party tried to distribute cash for votes, he said.
Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader Thol. Thirumavalavan, in his address, said that when the Bharatiya Janata Party and the DMK were desperate to rope in Mr. Vijayakant, he chose to join hands with the PWF with the sole aim of preventing the AIADMK and the DMK from coming to power.
Mr. Vijayakant had readily accepted formation of a coalition government in the event of the Front winning the elections and this showed his respect for democracy, he said.
Communist Party of India State secretary R. Mutharasan, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Noorul Mohamed and DMDK MLA V.C. Chandrakumar were among those who addressed the meeting.
