AIADMK demands Raja's arrest

The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) staged a demonstration here on Tuesday demanding the arrest of former Union Minister for Communication and Information Technology A. Raja in the 2G spectrum scam.

Organised by the party's urban and rural district units, the demonstration was held near the Collectorate under the leadership of the AIADMK literary wing secretary and district coordinator Vaigai Selvan.

The party's urban district secretary R. Manoharan; rural district secretary P. Subramanian' Tiruchi MP P. Kumar, former Minister P. Annavi; AIADMK Srirangam MLA M. Paranjothi, office bearers and good number of functionaries from various parts of the district took part in the stir.

The demonstrators demanded the arrest of former Minister Raja alleging that he was responsible for the gargantuan spectrum scam resulting in the loss of Rs.1.76 lakh crore to the national exchequer. It also condemned the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam for the scam, while demanding the Central government to constitute a Joint Parliament Committee to probe into the 2G spectrum scam. The party also demanded the dismissal of the DMK government.
