An Assistant Director of Agriculture was killed in a road accident near Thiruvenkatam in the district on Tuesday night.
Police said Subramanian (57) of Kattalaipatti near Sivakasi, who was working as Assistant Director of Agriculture in Sankarankovil, was returning home on his bike on Tuesday night. When he was negotiating a curve at Azhagapuri near Thiruvenkatam, he lost control over the vehicle and fell on the ground to sustain a grievous head injury.
A profusely bleeding Subramanian was rushed to Sankarankovil Government Hospital, where he breathed his last.
Thiruvenkatam police have registered a case.
