Advertisement in cinema halls hailing Tamil Nadu CM as God removed: Minister

An advertisement that hailed Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami as God. which was being shown at cinema halls, has been removed, Finance Minister D. Jayakumar said.

“The issue was brought to the notice of the Chief Minister and orders have already been issued to remove the advertisement from the theatres. Go and see now. You won’t find that playing [at cinemas],” Mr. Jayakumar told reporters here on Wednesday.

The advertisement shows a woman asking a temple priest to do an archana in the name of Mr. Palaniswami, who she says is like a God to her.

A video of the advertisement playing in a cinema hall went viral on social media, leading to criticism from all quarters.
