Aadhaar updation counter at Thoothukudi HPO

‘Facility available at 723 post offices in the State’

The Department of Posts launched Aadhaar enrolment-cum-updation services at Thoothukudi Head Post office on Wednesday.

Inaugurating the facility, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices V. Ramasamy said the facility was made available at 723 post offices in the State, including in Madurai, Tirunelveli, Kovilpatti and Dindigul. People in need of Aadhaar cards could avail themselves of this facility free of cost.

Those in possession of Aadhaar cards could get their unique identity number and update the card at the head post office here. He said name, biometric details, residential address, photo and mobile phone number could be updated or corrected at a service charge of ₹25.

This facility would be introduced in head post offices in Tiruchendur and Srivaikuntam and sub-post offices under Thoothukudi Division in April, Mr. Ramasamy said.

Assistant Superintendents of Post Offices Shanmuga Priya and Balasubramania Pillai, Head Postmaster Raja and Head of India Post Payment Bank V. Francis Xavier were present.
