A pit dug up on the second street of Muniyasamypuram, a residential locality in Thoothukudi, is posing a threat to people.

This situation had been prolonging for nearly a month, but no act action was taken to cover the ground, R. Sankar, a resident of Muniyasamypuram, said here on Monday.

He said after water leak was detected from the pipeline, which was burst, on this street, the ground was dug up to plug the leakage.

M. Balasubramanian, councillor of 46th ward, said the water leak problem had been attended thrice over the past one and a half months, but there was no solution.

Workers required brass couplings to fix the problem in the pipeline and the work would take two more days to be completed, he said.
