Describing the budget presented by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu as a “derailed” one, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday said the “budget is disappointing” especially for the common commuter.
Pointing at the increase in revenue for Railways because of fall in price of crude oil in the international markets, Mr. Siddaramaiah said the Ministry had benefited by it to the tune of Rs. 20,000crore, but had failed to transfer the benefit to the commuter by slashing train fares. “In fact, the Karnataka government slashed bus fares following fall in price of crude oil,” he said.
