Bharatiya Janata Party State president Tamilisai Sounderarajan on Wednesday indicated the party was gearing up for fresh polls.

Talking to mediapersons after addressing party workers, she announced the start of her month-long Statewide campaign to infuse transparency in governance, saying people were looking for a change from the (prevailing) “unhealthy situation”. Describing both the DMK and AIADMK as corrupt, Ms. Tamilisai said the BJP has no desire to strengthen itself by weakening another. “We will come to power through the front door,” she said referring to criticism that the party was trying to make a backdoor entry by taking advantage of the turmoil in the AIADMK.

Reflecting on Supreme Court’s jail term for AIADMK general secretary V.K.Sasikala in the disproportionate assets case, Ms. Tamilisai said the corruption indulged in by her had, in fact, besmirched the reputation of late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in her lifetime and after death.

AIADMK MLAs in confinement at Koovathur must be released and allowed to go to their constituencies. The Governor did the right thing by delaying government formation and would act aptly in the light of developments, Ms. Tamilisai said.

Lauding the style of governance of Chief Minister O.Panneerselvam in the last two months, she said “unwanted confusion” has been created.
