: PMK founder Dr. Ramadoss urged the central government to not allow the Karnataka government to build a fifth check dam on Mekedatu river on Thursday. “The PMK will do everything in its power to oppose this construction. The central government should not allow this construction without the approval of Tamil Nadu,” said Dr. Ramadoss.
He demanded that the Ministry of Water Resources must reject the plans presented by the Karnataka government to build the check dam. “Already, 4 check dams have been built. If they build the fifth one, then the Cauvery water will completely be monopolised by the Government of Karnataka,” he said.
Commenting on the current political events in the State, Dr. Ramadoss also said that it is all about showcasing ‘grand theatrics’.
In a statement, Dr. Ramadoss recalled the incident where senior ministers weeped while taking oath after former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s conviction in 2014. He said that the manner in which senior AIADMK ministers are vying for ministerial berth shows that what happened in 2014 was merely a show of loyalty to Jayalalithaa and nothing more. “It was disgusting to watch these ministers cry while taking oath. Justice Cunha was abused. People who showed their love by praying for her acquittal died of heart attacks as they took ‘kavadi’ in temples,” he said.
When the Supreme Court has reinstated Justice Michael Cunha’s judgement, the AIADMK ministers are eager to get positions for themselves. “Those who took oath crying then are smiling today. This proves that what happened then was just a drama,” he said.
