DMK working president M.K. Stalin on Saturday charged the AIADMK leadership with attempting to remove O. Panneerselvam from Chief Minister’s post. He urged Mr. Panneerselvam to work for the welfare of the State, without worrying about his post.

In a statement, he highlighted the water and dam issues Tamil Nadu was facing with the border States. “The Chief Minister should focus on people’s issues in the State and also issues faced with other States and getting assistance from the Centre for schemes. The Chief Minister also should ensure that State machinery obeys only his orders.”

Under this unstable government, there were issues like the dam, confusion over the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, inability to form the Cauvery Management Board, among others, he added.

Mr. Stalin pointed out that the abrupt exit of Sheela Balakrishnan as adviser to the Tamil Nadu government was a sign of the beginning of a war between the Chief Minister and the AIADMK party leadership, causing instability in government functioning.

Mr. Stalin said the State government always wanted to keep the people in suspense, whether it was resignation of officials or the health condition and treatment given to former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa after she was admitted to hospital, charging it with lack of transparency.
