4-year-old girl electrocuted, boy injured

Deepa (4), daughter of Devaraj, worker in a brick kiln in Senguttai in Nachiarkuppam in Ambur taluk was electrocuted and four-and-a-half-year-old Santhosh, son of Sakthi, another worker in the same kiln injured when the children accidentally touched an open switch box fixed for a newly sunk borewell near the brick kiln on Friday evening.

According to the police, the workers were staying with their family in huts near the brick kiln. The children had gone out to play when they met with the accident.

Live wire

Both of them sustained burns when they came in contact with a live wire. They were rushed to the Government Hospital, Ambur. Deepa died on the way, while Santhosh has been admitted to the hospital.
