A 16-year-old hearing and speech-impaired girl has alleged gang rape in Denkanikottai last week.

The Tamil Nadu Association for the Rights of All Types of Differently Abled and Caregivers (TARATDAC), on behalf of the victim, has demanded action against the ‘culprits.’

According to a complaint made on Wednesday, the girl was coming home after giving food to her father, who was a guard in a field, on Christmas day. The four men hit her with a log and took her away to a secluded place, where she was gang-raped. The girl was taken to Denkanikottai government hospital the next morning for treatment by her father.

When her father went to file a complaint with Anjetti police, he was directed to the All Women Police Station.

Inspector of Denkanikottai All Women’s Police station Jayam said the police team was away in Kerala investigating the illegal adoption case.

As of Wednesday, the police were yet to look into the complaint.
