Sixteen candidates affiliated to various political parties, except the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, filed their nominations for various constituencies in the district for the May 16 Assembly polls on Monday.

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s candidate for Ambasamudram constituency R. Avudaiyappan filed four sets of nomination papers with Returning Officer V. Vishnu. His son A. Prabhakaran filed his nomination as ‘dummy candidate’. Independent candidate M. Manohar also filed his nomination.

Former Minister and DMK’s candidate for Alangulam segment Poongothai Aladi Aruna filed her nomination with Shaik Mohideen, Returning Officer at Alangulam tahsildar office.

While V. Anburaj Subramanian of BJP filed his nomination, V.S. Ganesan filed his nomination as ‘dummy candidate’ of BJP.

Party’s Tirunelveli segment candidate A.L.S. Lakshmanan, Bharatiya Janata Party’s A. Maharajan and Pattali Makkal Katchi’s Ganesan Kannan filed their nominations with Returning Officer P. Fermi Vidhya.

The DMDK-PWF candidate for Sankarankovil (Reserved) segment T. Sadan Thirumalaikumar filed his nomination

On behalf of Social Democratic Party of India, K.S. Shahul Hameed of Melapalayam filed his nomination for Palayamkottai Assembly constituency.

He submitted his nomination papers to S. Sivasubramanian, Returning Officer and Commissioner of Tirunelveli Corporation.

BJP’s Kathirvel filed his nomination for Kadayanallur constituency with Returning Officer Usha and the party’s candidate for Tenkasi segment Selvi submitted papers with Venkatesh, Revenue Divisional Officer, Tenkasi.

G. Sankarasubramanian of BJP filed his nomination as ‘dummy candidate’ for Tenkasi segment.

S. Lobin of Naam Thamizhar Katchi filed his nomination for the Radhapuram constituency.
