13 juveniles held for murder of three Odisha youth

Vedasandur court sends them to a correctional home in Melur

A magistrate court in Vedasandur on Wednesday sent 13 juveniles, who were arrested in connection with the murder of three youth from Odisha on March 6, to a correctional home in Melur in Madurai district.

The bodies of the three Odisha youth were found in a well. The police registered a case and their investigation revealed that the deceased were working in a private textile mill in Nadukandanur near here.

The deceased were accused of sexually abusing some women and it led to clashes between them and a few other workers. On a few occasions, there were fights between them. Following complaints from both sides, the police intervened and contained the situation.

Meanwhile, the Odisha youth were done to death by a gang and their bodies were dumped in the well. After post mortem, the bodies were handed over to their relatives.

Further investigation by the police led to the arrest of the 13 juveniles from Tiruchi, Karur and Pudukottai districts.
