12 stranded TN fishermen rescued by Coast Guard

Twelve fishermen of Nagapattinam were rescued by the Coast Guard ship after they were found stranded 75 miles off Karaikal coast in the early hours of Monday.

The men had ventured out on May 29 from Nagapattinam and were slated to return after a fortnight. However, their boat had developed a technical snag and was stranded mid-sea, North East of Karaikal.

Following a distress call, the ICGS C-427 was deployed to rescue the fishermen on Sunday night. After a 7-hour rescue operation, the boat was toed back to Karaikal port on Monday morning.
