12 computerised centres declared open

People can get certificates issued by Revenue Department and Social Welfare Department

To enable the public to get the necessary certificates given by Revenue Department and Social Welfare Department, 12 e-centres were inaugurated in the district here on Friday.

The e-service centres will be administered by the Electronic Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT) and started in taluks in Salem, Salem (South), Salem (West), Yercaud, Vazhapadi, Attur, Gangavalli, Omalur, Mettur, Edappadi, Sankari and also one at the district Collectorate.

Certificates issuance by the Revenue Department on community, income, nativity, certificates given to first graduates of a family, destitute women and widows can now be obtained from the centres by submitting applications along with Rs. 5.

Also, application for marriage assistance for women and girl children assistance programme that were given by the Social Welfare Department can be submitted at these e-centres.

Besides this, electricity bills and premiums for Life Insurance Corporation of India can be paid here. Officials said that applications for obtaining PAN card, for taking printout of Aadhaar Card, corrections in electors’ identity card and other central government services are provided at these centres. Currently, 206 centres in Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies, 149 centres in Pudhu Vazhvu project offices were functioning in the district. Minister for Highways and Minor Ports Edappadi K. Palaniswami inaugurated the centres in the presence of collector K. Maharabushanam, Mayor S. Soundappan, V. Panneerselvam MP, and G. Venkatachalam MLA.
