100 cans of rectified spirit seized

As many as 100 cans of rectified spirit, stored in a house near Vaniyambadi have been seized on Saturday night.

The Prohibition Enforcement Wing received information about movement of large number of vehicles at night at a house on the hillside of Vellakkal village near Vaniyambadi. They kept the house under tight vigil.

On Saturday night they saw four persons unloading cans from a van. They swung into action immediately but the four slipped away. They found 100 cans,in all, filled with rectified spirit. The total value of the catch is estimated to be of Rs.8 lakh. The van used to smuggle the contraband was also seized. After investigation it found that the cans were being smuggled from neighbouring states.
