A court here on Friday rejected a bail application of Suraj Pancholi, arrested on charges of abetting the suicide of Bollywood actor Jiah Khan.
While opposing the bail application, the prosecution told the Sessions Court that investigation in the case had reached a crucial stage and his release may hamper the probe. The court, upholding the argument, rejected the bail plea.
Suraj, son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, in the bail application argued that Jiah’s mother was seeking revenge against him for reasons best known to her. The application said the letter found at Jiah’s home, three days after her suicide, was misused and that it did not mention Suraj’s name.
Suraj was arrested on the basis of the letter on June 10 and was later put in judicial custody. The letter alleged that she was heartbroken in her relationship and was fed up with his “womanising” ways.
