Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule on Friday released City Corporation Director Arun Mehta’s letter to MD Aniruddha Deshpande, which stated that if any associates or directors wish to bid for IPL team they should do so in their personal capacity.
“Pursuant to the Board of Directors meeting of City Corporation Limited (CCL), which took place in Mumbai on March 17, 2010, it was decided that CCL will not participate in the IPL tender,” the letter stated.
“If any associates or directors wish to bid, they should do so in their personal capacity,” Mr. Mehta stated in the letter dated March 19.
Mr. Deshpande has already denied the Union Minister or his family’s involvement in a failed bid for the Pune IPL team and insisted that he acted in individual capacity.
The Pawar family has a 16 per cent equity in the City Corporation but Mr. Deshpande said the company’s Board was not interested in bidding for the team and he went ahead on his own.
The letter, released by Ms. Sule, also maintained that the company will not have any financial liability or financial involvement in the matter.
