The special task force (STF) of the city police arrested here on Thursday a resident of Bihar with suspected links with terrorist outfits that could include the Indian Mujahideen.

Mohammad Ali alias Md. Alee, 30, who hails from Nirpur village of Muzaffarpur district was arrested near Victoria Memorial. Fake Indian currency notes with a face value of Rs. 50,000 were recovered from his possession besides a passport of a foreign country.

“The police is investigating into all possible angles,” a senior STF officer said. The accused was produced before a city court and remanded to police custody till November 12.

He has been charged with possessing fake currency notes and criminal conspiracy in the complaint registered by the STF.

Indian Mujahideen is suspected to have carried out the serial blasts on October 27 at Patna in Bihar where at least six persons have died. Some operatives of the terror outfit have also been arrested from Bihar and Jharkhand.
