Sri Lankans detained

April 29, 2012 11:55 pm | Updated 11:55 pm IST - KOLLAM:

The Kollam police took Dhanapala Singham and Sreedasan from Sri Lanka into custody on Friday midnight on the suspicion that they had been brought here by human-trafficking racketeers.

People at Kavanad in the city had manhandled them as they could not answer the questions posed to them. Singham was badly injured and has been admitted to a hospital.

Police said that on interrogation, the two said they were from Jaffna and were brought here to be transported in a boat from the Shakthikulangara harbour to some point from where they could board a ship to go abroad.
