Congress president Sonia Gandhi has been discharged from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Sunday morning. She has been advised rest and medication.
"Ms. Gandhi is likely to visit the hospital for further evaluation of her condition in the coming week," said Dr. D.S. Rana chairman Board of Management, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.
The leader was admitted to the hospital on August 3 afternoon with fever, dehydration and shoulder injury. "Ms. Sonia Gandhi's medical condition at the time of discharge from the hospital is stable," said a health update provided by the Hospital.
Ms. Gandhi was admitted under the care of Dr. Arup Basu senior consultant, Department of Pulmonology and Chest Medicine and his team. She was operated for shoulder injury at the hospital by Dr. Prateek Gupta, senior consultant and his team from Department of Orthopaedics and Dr. Sanjay Desai from Mumbai.
“She had dislocated and fractured her left shoulder in a fall, and we relocated the ball and fixed the fracture using plates and screws. She has been put on a physiotherapy regime to ensure a full healing,” said a hospital source.
Ms. Gandhi was shifted from the Army Research & Referral hospital to the Sir Ganga Ram hospital earlier this month.
Ms. Gandhi, who was in Varanasi at the begining of the month to lead a Congress road show, had to be flown back to Delhi after she fell ill. She had dropped out of the road show after her illness. Her condition was adversely affected because of the hectic schedule.
