Soldier’s wife killed in J&K after gun went off

Wife of an Army man was killed when a bullet from her husband’s gun accidentally went off in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, police said on Friday.

The incident took place at Punwader village in the district on Thursday night when jawan Ashwani Kumar was cleaning his gun, they said, adding the gun went off accidentally and the bullet pierced through the chest of his wife, Pooja.

Pooja was immediately rushed to a hospital, where she was declared brought dead, they said.

Police have registered a case and the jawan has been detained, they added.
