Deputy Superintendent of Police N.K. Amin and Inspector V.A. Rathod, both already in jail, were on Wednesday remanded to four-day CBI custody in connection with the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.

CBI Special Court judge V.B. Barot rejected Mr. Amin's request for granting four weeks time to appeal to the higher court against the remand order.

Mr. Amin and Mr. Rathod were arrested by the State CID (Crime), which earlier probed the case.

Meanwhile, Abhay Chudasma, Deputy Commissioner of the Ahmedabad crime branch, arrested by the CBI in the case, is likely to be shifted from the Sabarmati jail here to the Nadiad prison soon.

The shifting was permitted by State Inspector-General of Police (Prisons) after Mr. Chudasma's wife shot of a letter to the jail authorities saying her husband's life was in danger in the Sabarmati jail as many of the accused he had arrested in connection with various cases were also lodged there. Earlier, the CBI had also favoured his shifting.
