Slain NIA officer's wife succumbs to injuries

Farzana, the wife of slain National Investigation Agency (NIA) officer Tanzil Ahmed succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here.

> Farzana and her husband had both sustained gunshots after they were fired upon while on their way back from a wedding in Bijnor on April 2.

Ahmed died on the same day while Farzana, who had sustained gunshots in her stomach and on one of her legs was battling for life ever since and remained critical all through. On Wednesday, The Hindu reported that her condition had deteriorated further.

Farzana was earlier admitted at Fortis Noida and later referred to AIIMS, said family members.

An AIIMS official said a briefing would be done later in the day.

Farzana's death comes a day after the Uttar Pradesh Police claimed to have cracked the case.
