Singapore Foreign Minister George Yeo will pay a five-day visit to India from Sunday for talks with External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna, and participate in a meeting of the Nalanda Mentor Group (NMG).
Mr. Yeo is a member of the NMG in his personal capacity. The members of the NMG, led by Nobel Economics Laureate Amartya Sen, are scheduled to call on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Announcing Mr. Yeo's visit, the Singapore Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Saturday that the NMG, set up by the Indian government to help conceptualise the revival of Nalanda University, would now hold its sixth meeting. The first was held in Singapore in July 2007.
The statement said that the meeting would “discuss the implementation framework and operations of the proposed [revival of the] Nalanda University.”

Indeed a unique vision ! Wish success. Petty Politicians KEEP OFF.
Indians have no sense of urgency. Like many other projects the New Nalanda Project has been dragged for a long time. There is no shortage of funds. The number of millionaires and billionaires are increasing everyday. They can certainly contribute.
It will be grand if the prestine glory of Nalanda is revived with all traditional subjects coupled with modern ones. India was then at a height of learning in empirical sciences and at the apex in spirituality.
We hope that all this could be restored.
But this requires systematic planning, efficient execution and visionary and dedicated Faculty.
