Shoe hurled at Punjab CM

August 16, 2014 12:21 am | Updated 12:21 am IST - LUDHIANA:

An unemployed youth threw his shoe at Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal while he was on the dais on Friday during a political conference at Issru, 50 km from here. However, the shoe fell a few metres from the dais.

It was thrown as the Chief Minister stood up to address the gathering, the police said.

The youth, identified as Vikram (23), is a resident of Dhanoula in Barnala, the Khanna SSP Harsh Bansal said. He also raised slogans against the Chief Minister before hurling the footwear, Mr. Bansal added.

Vikram, however, claimed that he did not hurl the shoe at the CM, but at his chair. “I am angry with all the politicians...they promise employment, but do nothing,” he said.
