‘Centre needs a reality check on its financial management systems’

The Shiv Sena has severely criticised the Narendra Modi government for not reining in prices of essential commodities.

An edit in its party mouthpiece Saamna said: “The average expenditure incurred by a household of four has increased from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 8,000.”

Remarking that this was causing a severe strain on the budgets of middle-class homes, the edit also censured its ally and the Devendra Fadnavis-led BJP government in Maharashtra for imposing fresh surcharges on petrol and diesel.
