Firebrand separatist leader Asiya Andrabi, the chief of all-female Dukhatran-e-Millat (DeM), was arrested from her residence in Srinagar on Wednesday night.

A contingent of police arrested Ms. Andrabi around 11p.m. Her arrest comes just a day after she launched a scathing attack on a local principal, alleging she was “harassing and beating students” and “disallowing protests on the campus” in Srinagar.

Last year, Ms. Andrabi was slapped with Public Safety Act.

Meanwhile, separatists and militant outfits have condemned the move to arrest Ms. Andrabi.
