The new Chief Election Commissioner, V.S. Sampath, made courtesy calls on President Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here on Thursday.
Meanwhile, a notification on appointment of a new Election Commissioner to fill up the vacancy in the three-member Commission, caused by the elevation of Mr. Sampath, is likely to be issued in a few days.
