A day after they were served with notice under Section 91of Criminal Procedure Code, R. J. Ratnakar and V. Srinivasan, trustees of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, have reportedly requested the district police for more time to respond.

But the district police, when contacted by The Hindu on Thursday, neither confirmed nor denied having received such a request.

The police handed over the notice — served in connection with the seizure of Rs.35 lakh from a car recently — to Mr. Ratnakar and faxed it to Mr. Srinivasan's office on Wednesday, giving them three days to respond.

The three accused in the un-accounted cash case – Harishananda Shetty, Chandrasekhar Murthy, and Sohan Shetty – currently in judicial remand at the Hindupur sub-jail, on Thursday moved the judicial first class magistrate court in Hindupur for bail.

The magistrate, after hearing their arguments, posted the matter for Friday.
