The Railways on Friday placed under suspension S.M. Sharma, chairman, Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), Mumbai, following the arrest of his son, Vivek Bhardwaj Sharma, by the CBI, while unearthing a recruitment scam.
The Ministry of Railways maintained that the Railway Board would cooperate with the CBI in exposing the scam relating to the examination conducted for appointment of Assistant Loco Pilot and Assistant Station Master by the RRB, Mumbai, at Sholapur and Nagpur.
The railways maintained that severe action would be taken against those found guilty in the matter.
As regards the examinations conducted across the country on June 6 and June 13, a decision on whether to cancel these or not will be taken in a couple of days after receiving a report from the CBI.
Officials said the next examination would be held as scheduled on June 27.
