Union Law and Justice Minister M. Veerappa Moily on Saturday said the Telangana resolution could not be moved in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly unless a majority of MLAs favoured the creation of the new State.

Mr. Moily, who is in charge of Congress affairs in Andhra Pradesh, said the high command was confident of resolving the crisis caused by the mass resignations by MLAs in protest against the Centre's move to create a Telangana State. Efforts would be made to ensure that they withdrew their resignations, he told journalists after inaugurating a Rs. 350-crore cement unit at Thondebavi in this district.

Those who had agreed to the formation of Telangana at an all-party meeting, did a U-turn soon after the Centre announced that the process for creating it would be initiated, Mr. Moily said.
