NDFB ‘chairman’ Ranjan Daimary was on Sunday remanded in CBI custody for nine days in connection with the October 30, 2008 serial blasts in Assam.
Amid tight security, Daimary, the prime accused in the case, was produced before chief judicial magistrate Robin Phukan, who remanded him in nine days’ custody of the CBI for the blasts which claimed 92 lives.
CBI lawyer D.K. Das had sought the custody for 14 days.
Daimary’s sister Anjali Daimary, who is the chief of Bodo Women’s Justice Forum, was allowed to meet him in court at Panbazaar.
His two days of police custody in connection with the killing of Bodo Sahitya Sabha President Bineshwar Brahma at Bashista in 2000 ended Sunday.
Daimary was handed over to India by Bangladesh on May 1. He was produced the next day before a chief judicial magistrate’s court which remanded him in 12 days’ police custody that ended May 14. He was further sent in police remand for two days.
He was produced on May 14 before a camp court in Guwahati Central Jail due to security reasons.
