JAIPUR: Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje will undertake a yatra next month, covering all the 200 Assembly constituencies in the State, ahead of the Assembly elections due later this year. The peregrination, which will start on April 15 from the tribal division of Udaipur, has been titled Vikas Yatra.

State Forest and Environment Minister Gajendra Singh said after a Cabinet meeting that the yatra, which would continue till July, would highlight the Bharatiya Janata Party government’s achievements. Ms. Raje had earlier undertaken Parivartan Yatra and Suraj Sankalp Yatra on different occasions during her political career.

As per the decision taken in the Cabinet meeting, the ministers in charge of districts as well as MPs and local MLAs will accompany the Chief Minister during the yatra.

The state Cabinet also gave a go-ahead to the recruitment of 1.08 lakh persons to 108 categories of posts during the next four months, for which a notification will be issued shortly. Besides, a Transgender Welfare Board will be established in the state to formulate policies for the third gender with the emphasis on treating them on equal terms.

Mr. Singh said the Cabinet also approved 5% reservation for ex-Army personnel in government services and cleared a proposal for giving them relaxation in the age limit. Army jawans relieved from work on medical grounds will also get the benefit of reservation.
