Rajasthan Governor backs new norms for contesting polls

Backing the Rajasthan Government’s decision to introduce minimum educational qualification rules for candidates contesting Panchayati Raj elections, Governor Kalyan Singh on Wednesday said the move would revolutionise the system.

Speaking in the State Assembly on the first day of the Budget session, Mr. Kalyan Singh said bringing in educated members at the grassroots governance would prove to be a milestone as would the mandatory provision of toilets in the houses of all those contesting Panchayati Raj elections.
