Reiterating that there would be “no forcible land acquisition for any project,” Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Friday that her department would have a land acquisition policy keeping in mind those who lost their land, as “the Railways always work with a human face.”
Repeating her promise that their would be no forcible acquisition and that a member of the “land loser family” would get a job with the Railways, Ms. Banerjee said, “A special officer would be appointed to carry out negotiations. As such, very little land is required for constructing a track. It does not require thousands of acres of land.”
